Friday nite movies....

Spent this evening watching 'Pirates of the Carribean - The Curse of the Black Pearl" for family movie night. I really enjoyed the first movie, but got confused in the end, this time it made much more sense in the climax scene with Jack and Barbossa. I'd hoped it would lend more light to the whole "when did Jack make a deal with Davy Jones" question I'd been haggling with. It didn't.....

Thanks to wikipedia.com I was able to find what I needed to know. Seems that Jack was the original captain of the "Wicked Wench" a ship of the East India Trading Co. and to make a long story short, it sank and he made a deal with Davy Jones to raise the ship for him. This was all before "the Curse of the Black Pearl". So, he gets the deal with Davy to raise the "Wicked Wench" and he renames it the "Black Pearl" and he is bound to captain it for the next 13 years until Davy gets his soul. Then Barbossa takes off with the ship and the rest is history in the 1st movie.

Much clearer now.....
